Dear ESA members,
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved International Council President, Brenda Meyers. Brenda passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 22nd after a short illness.
Brenda was not only an incredible leader but also a cherished friend to all who knew her. Her impact on ESA will carry on, especially in her many beloved family members whom she pledged into ESA over the years. We will remember Brenda for her quick wit, great kindness, ability to make every person she met feel loved, and her boundless passion for ESA.

Peace Prayer of St. Francis
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me so love:
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith:
where there is despair, hope:
where there is darkness, light:
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much to seek
to be consoled, as to console:
to be understood, as to understand:
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we received.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Good news from Jim and Georgene Farr's daughter. Jim is home from the hospital. He was released on Friday. He is doing well, but still needs some time to recover. He has been in since his surgery after Memorial Day. 4 weeks. Surgery to remove the remaining cancer. He is now cancer free. "We appreciate so much all of the prayers and cards from ESA. Please pray for Jean Varga's nephew, Joe. Joe already has several serious medical conditions. And this morning he fell, seriously injuring himself. He suffered a brain bleed and has had surgery to remove a part of his skull to relieve pressure on his brain. Jean is on her way down to Ohio to be with Joe and his family. She will keep us updated on his condition. Please pray for Joe and his family. And pray that Jean has a safe journey down to Cleveland. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for them.
Please read Mary and Connie's good news about Jim Farr, Georgene's husband. I am thanking God at this very minute and hoping for more good news and a complete recovery for Jim. We just have to keep praying and pray some more. Keep thanking God for all His gifts and the happiness He gives us. Take care and keep feeling God's love. Keep smiling and keep giving your love to others.
Below is the response I received from Linda (Georgene and Jim Farr's daughter) to my inquiry on how Jim is doing. Prayers are working!! He is off the vent and out of icu. He was up and walking today. Got a little short of breath but that is to be expected after being in bed for so long. He will be moving to the inpatient rehab hopefully in the next few days where he will be for about a week or two.
Hi Barb...please pass along this need for prayers for Angie Tegrootenhuis and her family. Angie's niece, Emma Suzanna, was born on June 10 and is in NICU. She had failure to thrive in the womb and finally started growing the last couple months. She had acidic blood which is caused from lack of oxygen in the blood. That could be from failure to thrive. Her heart stopped during labor so her mother had to have an emergency c-section. Then her heart stopped after she was born and they had to do CPR. They will do an MRI today to check for brain, kidney, liver damage. She's been in cold therapy the past 3 days and was taken off the ventilator yesterday. Would appreciate your prayers. Ginny

Mary Hill is home after 4 days in the hospital. She was hospitalized because she was retaining high levels of fluid. She was having difficulty breathing and she is still having some. She is on 6L of oxygen when she is up and moving and 2L at rest. She is on a low sodium diet. She said that the Manors food does not meet that requirement. She told her daughter that perhaps it is more about quality of life than quantity. She said that the Master Planner has just given her one more challenge to deal with and she will deal with it the best way that she can.

Linda Broce, formerly of Pratt's Gamma Beta chapter and now of Wichita's Delta Epsilon chapter, underwent skin cancer surgery Friday In Wichita. The dermatology Mohs surgeon, Dr. Brough, removed an area slightly larger than a silver dollar from her right temple, after being originally told the area was the size of a quarter. He reported that the area is thankfully now clear of cancer. Then Linda was transported to the Plastic Surgery Center to Dr. Spaniel to close the gaping wound. In order to cover the wound, he had to bring skin up from the jaw. Due to the trauma of the surgery, much swelling, pain and bruising has occurred. Linda will be resting comfortably at home for quite a few days. Good thoughts, please, and a reminder to everyone to wear sunscreen DAILY!

It is with a sad heart we are sharing that our dear ESA sister Janet McMaster passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024. The family is planning a service at her church in the near future. Janet was so proud to be a part of ESA and Alpha Gamma, joining 75 years ago. She loved traveling across California to conventions, leadership meetings, and social events; and, to IC Conventions with her Alpha Gamma sisters. Janet was always the last one standing when we counted off how many conventions we attended. She was so disappointed that she wasn't well enough to attend our state convention earlier in May.
