Verna Cornell sends this from Eileen Barrett, Alpha Beta, Panama City:
Verna: as you know.... Peggy is still seeing lots of doctors on her cancer... living with her son as her house is still damaged from the storm. Lynette is still working her "tail" off" keeping Harold ok as he is in a wheel chair all the time and it is a big job care giving for her but she is a "trooper". She is also waiting to get the roof fixed, all trees are cut down.
Kay has a few medical problems, have not heard much about Rachel since they moved into assisting living in Alabama.
Margaret Jencks passed away right after the storm, and you remember Bonnie Sanders ...she also passed away.
I had a brief talk with Loyce... she was a bit confused at first and I got the infor that she was being moved.... don't know where and her phones are all turned off... She was really upset as she was alone. Tried to tell her to get me a phone number or address and I would come see her... but to this date.... no answer on any avenue..... it really upsets me cause I don't know and she sounded like she needed someone.... I will continue to try finding out....Hoping God will give me a break on that avenue.
As for me...I am still in physical therapy twice a week... it is helping, wearing the big back brace and doing as well as I can.... not super woman anymore... still have that back pain but the brace is helping along with heat. Keep well and give my Florida ESA sisters a hug from me and tell them I miss them all. Thanks for being such a great ESA sister....
Hugs and Love...eileen
Verna Cornell spoke with our Sara Meadows this last weekend - she is doing well. She is living in Texas - has a mother-in-law's suite at her son's home. She is doting over her granddaughter (Sara) and loving every moment of it.
I know she would love to hear from you - please see her info below:
Ocean, my grandson, is doing well. The bone is healing well around the screw attaching his skull to his spine. It is nothing less than miraculous.
Isis, my daughter, had to undergo a third operation for her colitis. She starts the biweekly injections to calm down the inflammatory process on Valentine’s Day. We are hopeful that this will allow her to regain her health.
We are very thankful for all the cards and prayers from our sisters.
God bless all of you.
RE: Jean Huston - from our Beth McCoy - Jean continues her
Chemo. The last MRI showed that the tumor had gotten a bit smaller. She remains home bound. Appreciates hearing from her sorority sisters.
RE: Jan Billias - from Jan herself - After continued problems with weight loss nausea diarrhea etc my primary care physician ran some tests.
I had previously been told that these complaints would go away that it was the medication. Now he thinks I picked up a parasite while I was hospitalized back in November... So I'm being treated for that and have had mostly good days..
21 pills per day. Lol.
Like Pinky I'm ready to be well! Time to get some exercise and get strong.
"Gene is doing better. He had a pacemaker “installed” last Weds and is doing better! Thank God!
I was in the hospital New Year’s Eve day and New Year’s Day with severe upper left chest pains. Lots of test were able to rule out any heart problems. Severe pain was causing upchucking. (Gall bladder was ruled out .) Referred to GI specialist so I had my EGD GI procedure last Thurs and had a couple of biopsy’s, some polyps removed, and diagnosed with hiatal hernia and lining of stomach inflamed. (Gastritis) Waiting for results of final diagnosis and results of biopsy’s this week.
Just so frustrated with this pain and ready to be well again. Drs have said stress has been a major contributor. I have been so fortunate before this to be very healthy! I’m spoiled!

Problems are like washing machines
They twist us, spin us and knock us around but
In the end, we come out cleaner, brighter and better than before.
Good people are like street lights along the roads
The don’t make the distance short
But they light up the path
And make the walk easy and safe.
